In this FWB, my very good friend, Alicia, shows me her technique of picking up dog poop.  Alicia is a pro at picking up poop due to her lovable Porti, Roxy.   Me, not so much.  I’m somewhat of a newb and always had difficulty/anxiety when it was time to knot the bag.  Alicia showed me her skills while on a walk with the dogs and the next day, I just couldn’t remember how she did the knot.  So, voila, we found Alicia’s FWB lesson.  Thank you to Ryan, Alicia’s husband, surfer and GoPro extraordinaire for filming!

Alicia and I met each other in 1991 at Camp Robin Hood and were campers and counselors together until 2002.    We both had very similar geographical trajectories in life.  Moving to San Francisco after college where we solidified our love for this amazing city and then moving away for grad school and life (Alicia-DC, NY; Me- SD, NYC) and then finding our way back to our favorite city.  I’m so grateful to have Alicia here.  I consider her more family than friend.  We share so many wonderful memories and special people and I can’t say enough amazing things about her!  Thanks Felish!!!

Well I love when situations like this happen.  My friend Joe came over with his friend, Bryan, who was visiting from DC.  We were chatting when FWB came up in conversation.  Then Joe mentioned that Bryan is an awesome breakdancer.  Within two minutes, we were rearranging my living room to make a dance floor which of course had to include the epic party light to set the scene.  It was so much fun to learn a new dance move and hopefully one day I’ll be able to do it and actually look cool.   Thanks Bryan for being such an awesome teacher and willing to jump right in there and Top Rock it out with me.  PS-Please take note of the Canton sweater I am wearing for it was part of my 4th grade Pop Warner cheerleading uniform that I never returned.  Whoops.

After a year in the making, my friend Kasey taught me how to make delicious mashed cauliflower.  Kasey and I met through Tracy and is another wonderful person from UNH. I knew she was such such a good person after The Allman Brothers show at Great Woods back in 2005 when she let me sleep in her brother’s room due to unpredictable circumstances.  (And it was the first time we ever hung out).

Kasey writes an amazing blog, Paleo Days, which has given me a great education while scrolling Facebook.   I think her message is awesome and unfortunately or fortunately we know that we have to take care of ourselves.  With recipes like mashed cauliflower, she helps make it a little easier.  Please take a moment and like Paleo Days on FB to get up on all the knowledge of 2014.

Stephanie teaches me how to make her signature salad also known as Stephanie’s salad.  Stephanie and I met through Nicolle shortly after I moved back to San Francisco.  She’s hilarious and we probably wouldn’t have crossed lives without having Nicolle as a mutual friend.  Thanks again for teaching me how to make such a delicious meal!!

This was my first year going to Burning Man which was a total bucket list event for me.  I am so grateful that I was able to go with such an amazing group and experience my first year with close friends as well as new friends including Archimedes.  Archimedes who came to Burning Man all by himself (really bold move), was our neighbor and basically became part of Dusty Phoenix (our camp) the day we met.  We filmed this FWB on the last day and hottest day of Burning Man hence the awesome outfit and hair.  If you would like to learn more about Polish Hand Magic, click here.

Burning Man was such a surreal and awesome experience.  It helped me appreciate what I have and all the awesome people I get to call my friends.  It also reminded me to stay open to everyone because everyone brings something special and different to the table for others to enjoy like Polish Hand Magic;)  So thank you Archimedes for being an awesome neighbor and totally down to do an FWB.  Also, thank you to the whole Dusty Phoenix crew for reminding me that everything will work out and that I’m surrounded by such wonderful people.

Oh and PS-I discovered the sound effects on IMovie and got inspired to make a little montage at the end of the video of some of my favorite pieces of art at Burning Man.

Chelsea was my first friend in college.  We met at orientation and remained friends ever since.  Although we joined different sororities and had different college experiences, we could always count on each other.  She was actually the person that told me about a career in Social Work, so for that I am ever grateful.  Chelsea is also one of those amazing friends where you can pick up right where you left off.  We haven’t seen each other since her wedding in October of 2010 yet we had an amazing day walking all over San Francisco when she was visiting with her husband, Tony. Chels just completed her yoga teacher training so I was super excited for her to teach me the ujjayi breath.  I do a good amount of yoga but you are always learning and improving because it is a practice:)  Thanks Chels for participating in FWB and being a special friend to me! xo

Ashley is one of my very good friends from high school who lives in San Francisco.  We went through many potential FWB lessons and finally after visiting her amazing and well decorated apartment, it was decided.  Ashley would teach me how to properly fold a towel.  She learned this folding technique from her friend, Jen, and now she passed on the goodness so we can all learn how to consistently fold a towel like Martha Stewart. Today, my roommate even made a comment about how well I folded my towels.  Benefits!  So, I suggest you all try to learn this simple folding technique.  Thanks, Ash for legit changing my future in towel folding.  Much love.

For my last FWB while on my #35dayadventure, I learned how to count to 5 in 5 different languages from my new friend, Currie.  I met Currie through Sofia when we all met up in Phuket towards the end of our trip.  I definitely continued practicing counting for the rest of my trip but can’t claim I know all the numbers.  Traveling made me realize how grateful I am to have English as my first language but really wanting to become more fluent in other languages.  I guess I just have to keep traveling and practicing to do that;)

My friend, coworker and all around awesome person, Samona, blows my mind by showing me what a weave entails.  Samona and I work together in a center for developmentally delayed toddlers. She’s so patient and great with the children as well as the adults;)  This FWB was probably the most enlightening one yet.  I had no idea the logistics and skills behind sewing in a weave.  Thanks so much Samona for always entertaining and enlightening me!

My friend Andrew taught me all about football on Sunday at a bar in the East Village.  Andrew and I work together at LivingSocial Adventures and he is an avid football fan.  This FWB was so fun to make and I’m confident that it will definitely benefit me in the future.  There is a lot of good info, so you’ll basically be an expert in football when you’re done watching this including how to maximize your experience at the bar.  Thanks Andrew for being so down to make this video!  Much appreciated;)
